What is your typical Saturday like? Early morning I see lots of people engaging in fitness activities, like yoga 🧘♂️ Spinning 🚴 Boot Camps 🏋 and lots of runners 🏃♀️ 🏃. Mid-morning hunger approaches. The body has been almost depleted from energy and running on the reserves from the tapas, tacos, empanadas you enjoyed last night that you meticulously paired with the tasty wines we pour?. I know what you did last night much? So you feel sort of hungry and are ready to tackle the day to go enjoy the beautiful San Diego outdoors and are contemplating either arranging your breakfast at home before you hit the road or finding a spot for brunch.
You've been out and you start to feel hungry again. Where should you stop at before heading home for a shower, and a nap? Cueva Bar of course! Did you know every first Saturday of the month we have a wine tasting? Yeah! it's only $5 and it comes with four 2 oz pours of 4 different wines. Every month I put together some sort of small bites to pass around to those who accompany us. But if you are hungry, our full tapas menu is available as well as our full wine list and 5 beers on tap. All of these options are available at Happy Hour discount of $2 for tapas and $3 for wines and beers.
But if you are a chef/owner of your restaurant like me, I guess you're either just chilling at home waiting to go in the kitchen, or already at the kitchen kicking ass, or writing a little story like this trying to reach out to people across the globe to come together in peace, through tapas. Cueva Bar is my approach to the concept of Tapas with an essence of Mexican cuisine, known for continuous reinvention and embracing evolution, where food is prepared in a cosy, relaxed and inclusive atmosphere without the white table cloth element, just a purely human relationship fostered by those who dine in the all are welcomed University Heights neighbourhood gem.
Letting the inspiration flow and keeping balance in mind, I marry Mexico’s ingredients and flavours with elements from around the U.S and the world using local-organic produce and vendors to produce both delicious and healthy dishes that have little to zero impact on our environment.
Cueva Bar in San Diego California offers a fusion tapas inspired menu with plenty of omnivores, gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options.
Our happy hour is from Tuesday to Saturday from 4 pm to 6 pm. Happy hour offerings are $2 off all food on the menu and $3 off all drinks by the glass.
