To reflect or to not reflect?

As this year comes to an end there is definitely many moments that made this 2019 a year to remember. It was one of our most up and down years with our team on a constant metamorphosis, a few menu changes, loads of different wines that we tasted together during our monthly wine tastings.

There were a few of you who had left town and made your way back this year to San Diego and we were very happy to see you again. We feel immensely grateful for all of you and the support you've given us this year. Life is all about perspective and it sounds easier said than done, at least in my own point of view. I feel safe to assume a little that most of us in the Cueva Bar community see life somehow in a similar way. What am I trying to say is that this year was cray cray and even though I don't regret any moment I am happy to welcome a new year. Hopefully, our country politics and the world stage stabilizes a little along with climate change, am I right? No need to get deep into these conversations. I just like to keep things in perspective and even though I don't get to know much about your lives I know all of our lives are affected by the environment in which we live, regardless of our colour, nationality, party affiliation or sexual orientation, we are all sentient beings and extreme climate change is real y'all!

A highlight of this year was when I removed all beef off of our menu. This move, like the butterfly effect, brought me closer to a person I've looked up to for many years. Do you know what they say about don't meet your heroes? I think that's a fallacy because when I met DavidJi it was one of those life moments I'll forever cherish.

Now, onto food matters. I've finished planning for tonights NYE 2020 Shindigs and I want to share the menu to help you figure out if you want to join us for tapas, small plates and delicious entre like dishes. Take a look and if you want to join us please consider making a reservation so we make sure you've got a seat.

About the author:

I chef Oz write these blogs. I am a home cook gone pro when my wife Jo and I decided to open Cueva Bar Cafe in San Diego California. I am passionate about offering a space where people gather for a good time, and to enjoy mindfully prepared tapas, made with love and passion by our culinary team. I'm all about inclusive peace, love, mutual respect, unity, kindness, and compassion under the sun with liberty and justice for all.

Let tapas bring us together!

Cueva Bar Café is my approach to the concept of Tapas with an essence of Mexican cuisine, known for continuous reinvention and embracing evolution, where food is prepared in a cosy, relaxed and inclusive atmosphere.

Letting the inspiration flow and keeping balance in mind, I marry Mexico’s ingredients and flavours with elements from around the U.S and the world using local - organic produce and vendors as much as possible to create both delicious and healthy dishes that have little to zero impact on our environment.

Cueva Bar in San Diego California offers a tapas and small plates inspired menu with plenty of omnivores, gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options.

Happy hour is from Tuesday to Thursday from 4 pm to 6 pm.

Happy hour offerings are $2 off all food on the menu and $2 off all drinks by the glass.

Late-night menu on Friday and Saturday from 9 pm to 11 pm we offer a pizza menu with 12 inch and 6 inch pizzas.

Monthly Wine Tasting. Happens every first Saturday of every month from 3pm-4pm.
