Back in my college days my friends and I would take a weekly trip to tacos El Pionero and would feast on our favourite tacos. My two to go options were the Machacado and the Cachete Prensado. No one makes breakfast and lunch tacos as delicious as the ones found at El Pionero. This taqueria also sells Menudo and pozole. If you already looked at the picture on the left and wondered if this is a stock picture or if I actually took it, I took it. I know, is not tapas and they certainly don't resemble the tacos we sell at Cueva. I know. I live with that reality every day. The kitchen at this Pioneros location had probably 20 employees working this morning when my dad and I stopped by after I took him to see the bone doctor and the place was 50% full at all times with a few couples, lone rangers and families walking in and out during my taco feast. My friend Adam spotted something pretty cool in the picture when I showed it during my video conference with the mastermind group I am part of. Can you tell what was that cool thing about this picture my friend spotted? It wasn't tapas, or empanadas, or wine. There are definitely a couple of gluten free options. No vegan or vegetarian tacos, or soups at this place though, sorry. The tacos are too obvious, so no, the tacos weren't what my distinguished tall friend found on this visual snapshot of my tacos outing with my dad.

By the way, I am writing this blog from Saltillo Mexico while visiting my parents because you know what they say about Brooklyn. You can't stop until you get there and I definitely haven't gotten to Brooklyn.
Cueva Bar is Chef Oz’s approach to the concept of Tapas with an essence of Mexican cuisine, known for continuous reinvention and embracing evolution, where food is prepared in a cosy, relaxed and inclusive atmosphere without the white table cloth element, just a purely human relationship fostered by those who dine in the all are welcomed University Heights neighbourhood gem.
Letting the inspiration flow and keeping balance in mind, Chef Oz marries Mexico’s ingredients and flavours with elements from around the U.S and the world using local-organic produce and vendors to produce both delicious and healthy dishes that have little to zero impact on our environment.
